Exploring the Natural History of Traumatic Brain Injury Within a Military Cohort – A Longitudinal Database and Blood Banking Study

Research Type:
Current DVBIC Studies

Goal: To improve our understanding of TBI in a military cohort by developing a data repository that contains clinical interview, neurobehavioral, neurocognitive, neuroimaging, blood specimen, and sensory/motor data on service members who were injured since October 2001 (during deployment to OIF/OEF or stateside).  Two evaluation pathways: comprehensive or brief.

Target Population: Service members and veterans with TBI.  Two control groups: non-TBI injuries (orthopedic and soft tissue), and non-injured service members with at least one deployment to OIF/OEF
