Family & Friends
Family members and friends play an important role in the care and rehabilitation of individuals with traumatic brain injuries (TBIs). Most people who have sustained a TBI recover significantly in the first few months following injury. In fact, more than 85 percent of people with a concussion/mild TBI (mTBI) recover completely within weeks to months with minimal intervention.
Most traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) sustained by service members are mild, occur in the non-deployed setting, and do not pose long-term problems for the service member’s health. Most service members who sustain a TBI recover quickly and fully.
Since 2000, more than 280,000 service members have been diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury or TBI.
