  OUR MISSION
The Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center's mission is to serve active duty military, their dependents and veterans with traumatic brain injury (TBI) through state-of-the-art medical care, innovative clinical research initiatives, and educational programs.

WHO WE ARE
Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) is:

  A multi-site medical care, clinical research and education center  
  A unique collaboration of the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system and a civilian partner
  Funded through the Department of Defense

Established in 1992 as the Defense and Veterans Head Injury Program (DVHIP), the clinical research conducted by DVBIC has come to define optimal care for survivors of TBI. Clinical care and research is currently undertaken at seven military and VA sites and one civilian treatment site. The Center's lead sites are in the following locations:

As the United States faces crises both at home and abroad, DVBIC continues to be the only organization committed to the effort to prevent, treat, and provide education on TBI for soldiers currently on active duty, national guard and reservists recently injured in the line of duty, their dependents, and retired military personnel.

WHAT WE DO

Develop and provide state-of-the-art TBI-specific evaluation, treatment and follow-up care for all military personnel, their dependents and veterans with brain injury
Conduct research that defines optimal care and treatment for individuals with TBI
Develop and deliver effective educational materials for prevention, treatment of TBI and management of its long-term effects
