MAJ KARL Brewer

Site Director and Principal Investigator

MAJ Karl BrewerMajor Karl Brewer graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a degree in Architecture before being accepted into medical school at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland. He then entered an internal medicine internship followed by residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.  Since becoming a board certified internist, he has worked at Evans Army Community Hospital at Fort Carson, Colorado.

In addition to Major Brewer's education, he served with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Iraq as a squadron surgeon in 2005. He also led the Evans Army Community Hospital National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) reception team from 2007 to 2009 and was the Emergency Medical Planner for the Department of Primary Care from 2006 to 2009.  During this time he became the OIC of the Family Medicine clinic at Evans Hospital and developed a unique multi-specialty clinic team that later moved into an off-post location, becoming the first clinic of its kind in the area.  He was integral in the development and opening of Fort Carson's traumatic brain injury center, the Warrior Recovery Center (WRC), in 2009. 

In addition to his current primary position as the Medicine Services Chief, he is the Site Director of the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center.
